I am the 2010 poetry/lyric prose mentor at SFU’s award-winning program, The Writer’s Studio.
I have worked as a biographer at Louis Brier Home and Hospital for Jewish Seniors, interviewing seniors, and writing their life stories. I have also taught workshops on writing and healing across North America, including the Skagit River Poetry Festival, the Wisconsin Book Festival, and AWP Austin, and I am amazed every time I do this work by the transformations I witness while guiding people to shape and revision their life stories. I am privileged to have been entrusted with the life stories of so many, to hear intimate accounts of birth, childhood, motherhood, war, abuse, and love in all its myriad variations.
I teach other courses at Simon Fraser University Harbour Centre.
I will be offering a private thirteen week course on Thursday evenings in 2010, called “13 Ways of Looking at the Family;” please contact me for more information.
I also offer individual or small group mentorship. Again please contact me for details and availability.
